Confirmation

"Confirmation perfects Baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds." (CCC 1316)

At confirmation we receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and confirm our baptismal promises. Greater awareness of the grace of the Holy Spirit is conferred through the anointing of chrism oil and the laying on of hands by the Bishop.

Anyone preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation needs sponsors and community support to help them grow in the faith. Sponsors must be at least 16 years old. They should be fully initiated Catholics in good standing meaning that they have received Baptism, Holy Communion and Confirmation. They are living their Christian vocation as a single person in chastity or they are validly married in the Catholic Church. (See a full list of Godparent requirements here.)

Confirmation for Teens (7-12th grade)

Our Confirmation program is intended for teens in 7th through 12th grade, who have been baptized in the Catholic Church. Unbaptized teens and teens baptized in other Christian traditions will need to register for the Order of Christian Initiation of Children (for those 12 years and under) or of Adults (for those 13 years and older). Please note that the links will redirect you to our "OCIC" and "OCIA" pages.
