Baptism

For Children 6 years and UNder

We welcome parents who are seeking baptism for their children, the first sacrament celebrated in the process of becoming a full member of the Catholic Church. The waters of baptism symbolize life, grace, new birth, cleansing, and renewal as we begin a new life in Christ. We look forward to celebrate your child as a member of the family of God and a member of our Catholic community here at St. Pius X Parish. 

 

If you desire to baptize your child, please note that at least one of the parents needs to be Catholic; however, if one or both of the parents have expressed an intent to become Catholic, the child may be baptized. As long as there is an earnest desire for the child to be reared in the Catholic faith, the Church will work with the parents on baptizing the child and addressing any specific concerns.

Baptisms are celebrated the 1st Saturday &  Sunday of the month during our regular masses.

To schedule your child’s baptism at St. Pius X, You Will need To:

1. Be a registered parishioner of St. Pius X, offering your time, talent, and treasure to the parish. If St.

    Pius X is your parish, and you have not yet registered, you can do so here.​

  • If you would like the baptism to be celebrated here and you are not a registered parishioner, you will need to provide a letter of consent from your pastor stating that you are allowed to baptize at St. Pius X.​​​​​​

2. Attend a Baptism Preparation Class. Classes are for both parents and godparents. We offer classes

    the first Saturday of the month at 9:30 am in English, and the first Sunday of the month at 9:15 am in

    Spanish in the parish office. The last day to sign up for a class is the Wednesday before the class.​

  • Godparents who live far away may attend the preparation class at their parish.​ Please request a letter/certificate of completion, as you will need it for step #4.

  • If you (or a godparent) have attended a Baptism Preparation Class within the last 3 years, your preparation is still valid and you do not need to attend another class.​​

 

    Classes have a $30 fee for registered parishioners and $50 for non-registered parishioners. Please

    contact Sr. Angelicah at anjuguna@stpius.org if you have challenges with the class fee.

3. Choose one or two godparents. Godparents must be at least 16 years old. They should be fully

    initiated Catholics in good standing meaning that they have received Baptism, Holy Communion and

    Confirmation. They are living their Christian vocation as a single person in chastity or they are validly

    married in the Catholic Church. (See a full list of Godparent requirements here.)

 

    Godparents must fill out the Godparent Oath Form and have it signed by their parish.

4. Fill out the Infant Baptism Registration. You will be asked to upload all the documents detailed in

    steps #1-3, according to your family's particular case; please have the following ready to upload:

  • Envelope number or a letter of consent from your parish.

  • Letter/certificate of class completion if you attended a baptism preparation class at another parish, or the date you attended the class at St. Pius X. â€‹

  • Godparent Oath Form(s).

    At the end of the form, you will be able to request your preferred baptism date. Please note this date is

    pending review and is not official until confirmed by the parish.
